Barbara Farmer Obituary

Barbara Lee Farmer, age 94, of New Philadelphia, formerly of Kennedy Ridge Road, Freeport died at 3:33 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2024 in Hennis Care Center, New Philadelphia.

She was born January 9, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio. She was a daughter of the late James Nevin Krieger and Dorothy Otterbein Williams.

Barbara attended Northridge High School in Dayton, Ohio with the class of 1948. She was employed by Sears & Roebuck in Dayton. Their family moved to the Freeport area and she was employed by the Freeport Press then started working in the service department at Sears & Roebuck in Uhrichsville and retired in 1992.

She was a member of the Freeport United Methodist Church, Four Seasons Garden Club of Freeport, Clark Branch Library of Freeport, and Deersville Community Players where she acted in the first production.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Jack Farmer. They were married on June 21, 1947. 

Surviving are two sons: Donald Michael (Darlene) Farmer of Decatur, Tennessee and Stephen Craig (Sandra) Farmer of Matthews, North Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Farmer of Dover.

The family wishes to acknowledge the many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren of Barb and Jack Farmer. They are deeply loved by all the family members.

In addition to her parents and husband, Barb was preceded in death by a son, Charles Douglas Farmer on December 10, 2008; three brothers: Charles Johnson, Richard Johnson, and James Johnson; her step-dad, Charles Johnson; and her sister, Shirley Taylor.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024 in the Freeport Church on the Rock with Dave Koch and Bob Koch leading the service. Burial will follow in Greenmont Union Cemetery, Freeport.
