Betty June Stillion, age 88, of Parma, formerly of the Holloway area, died peacefully at home in Parma on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
She was born September 20, 1935 in Wheeling, West Virginia; a daughter of the late Curtis Orville Edgell and Edna Belle Staggs Edgell.
Betty graduated from Holloway High School as valedictorian from her class. She worked for Riesbeck’s in Flushing then Pic-n-Pay Grocery Stores in the Cleveland area as head cashier.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward Stillion on April 21, 1993. They lived on Jockey Hollow Road, near Holloway on her parent’s farm until his passing in 1993. Due to health issues she moved to Parma in 2018 with her children.
While living near Holloway, she attended the Nottingham Presbyterian Church. She loved birds, making crafts, and flower gardening.
Surviving are three children: William Stillion, Barbara (Donald) Smith, and Sandy Garcia; five grandchildren: John, Janet, Betty, Joseph, and Justin; and five greatgrandchildren: Tyler, Steven, Alisia, Nathan, and Liam; and a sister, Irma (Chester) Kemp.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Bibbins; and four siblings: Max Edgell, Robert Edgell, Donald Edgell, and Mary Lou Markey.
Visitation followed by a service will be held Monday, February 12, 2024 in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Peggy Milliken officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing Township, Belmont County, Ohio.
Betty’s favorite verse was Corinthians: Chapter 13, Verse 13: Paul writes: “So now faith, hope, and love abides, these three: but the greatest of these is love.”
