Donald Thurston DeVoy, Sr. age 72, of 72725 Freeport Road, Piedmont died at home at 3:51 a.m. Sunday, December 25, 2016 after a short battle with cancer.
Born August 29, 1944 in Barnesville, a son of the late Arthur Thurston DeVoy and Sadie Hayes DeVoy.
He was a retired self-employed truck driver for Wampum Hardware of Holloway where he drove for over 25 years. He enjoyed fishing, telling jokes, cooking, and canning.
Surviving is his wife of 34 years, Marilyn Kay Williams DeVoy. They were married June 18, 1982. Also surviving are three children: Donald T. (Jody) DeVoy, Jr. of Piedmont, Sue Ann DeVoy of Flushing, Christopher (Jessica) DeVoy of Pasadena, Maryland; four step-children: Leonard T. Robey of Kimbolton, Karen Lynn (Steve) Piatt of Freeport, Jody (Donald) DeVoy of Piedmont, and Bobby Jo (Larry) Baumberger; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank DeVoy and a sister, Caroline Walters.
Following Donald wishes he will be cremated. There will be a Celebration of Life service at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016 in Oak Grove Calvary Chapel with Pastor Bob Merritt officiating. A dinner will be served in the church social hall following the service.
