James Carter “Skinnyneck” McCleary, age 64, of 102 Kirk Street, Flushing, Ohio 43977 passed away peacefully at 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at his home.
He was born February 7, 1954 in Martins Ferry, Ohio to the late James Leroy McCleary and Ruth Mae Carter McCleary.
He was a 1972 graduate of Union Local High School. Jim was an owner, operator, and truck driver. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion of Flushing Post #366.
Surviving are a son: James Michael (Toni) McCleary; a daughter: Chrissy Marie (Rick Buffington) McCleary; wife of 28 years and his lifetime companion, Betty Ferrell McCleary; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy (Mike) Toland; and a brother: Kenneth Dean McCleary all of Flushing; three nieces: Chelsea, Kaylee and Kendra; a nephew, Jake; three aunts: Carol Stewart, Martha Hawthorne, and Norma Jean Plants; an uncle Bill McCleary; and several cousins.
Jim was preceded in death by two brothers: Chuck and William; and a sister: Ruth Ann.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018 in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2018 in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport with Robert Koch officiating.. Burial will follow in Nottingham Cemetery.
