Samuel Glasure Obituary

Samuel David Glasure, Jr. age 78, of New Philadelphia passed peacefully at 2:29 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in Union Hospital, Dover.

Sam was born April 19, 1940 in New Cumberland, West Virginia to the late Samuel David Glasure, Sr. and Olive Elizabeth Sellars Glasure. He was a US Army Veteran.

He was a truck driver most of his life owning and operating his own trucks and he also drove for Mighty Tire of Canton. He was a foreman at Republic Steele in Massillon till they closed. Sam was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, New Philadelphia and played on their Dart Ball Team. He loved to travel with family and friends and to sit and drink coffee with his buddies at Dee’s Restaurant in New Philadelphia.

His wife of twenty-one years, Rebecca Sue Case Skipper Glasure, survives. They were married December 28, 1996.

Also surviving are two sons, Fred (Julie) Glasure of Carrollton and Shawn (Denise) Glasure of Harlem Springs; a daughter, Synda (Rick) Haag of Carrollton; a brother John (Rita) Glasure of Navarre; a sister: Nancy (William, Sr) Yates of New Philadelphia; five grandchildren: Amee Glasure of Jewett, Jacob Glasure of Louisville, Kentucky, Ryan Glasure of New Philadelphia, Kelsie (Chris) Hoelzle of Canton, and Whitney Pinick of Harlem Springs; a great-granddaughter: Molly Hoelzle of Canton; three step-sons: Paul (Diane) Skipper of South Carolina, Eric (Amanda) Skipper of South Carolina, and Jamie (Traci) Skipper of Canton and their families.

Sam was preceded in death by a grandson, Ashley Glasure; a brother, James Glasure; and a step-daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Scott Skipper.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018 in the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 156 Beaver Ave., NE, New Philadelphia. A memorial service will begin at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Jon Long officiating. Cremation has taken place and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Jewett at a later date.
