Danny Charles Shepherd

Danny Charles Shepherd, age 44, of 17860 Fogle Road, Salesville, Guernsey County, Ohio formerly of Freeport died from untreatable cancer at 8:45 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was born in Barnesville Hospital on November 27, 1969. He was a son of Charles H.  "Jumbo" Shepherd and Jeannette D. Bunfill Shepherd of Freeport.

Danny graduated from Buckeye Trail High School in 1988. He became employed by the Freeport Press after graduation and worked his way up to his present day position as a plant superintendent.

He was a member of the Freeport Masonic Lodge #419 F & AM and was an avid Ohio State Fan. He enjoyed watching his children in their school activities. He was a Methodist by faith. He supported surrounding communities helping with fund raisers and cooking chickens.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of thirteen years, Penny L. Borland Shepherd. They were married June 10, 2000 in Freeport United Methodist Church by Pastor Rodney West. Also surviving are four children: Danielle Nikole Shepherd, Kolton Lane Shepherd, Alexis Kayleigh Shepherd, and Makenzie Harper Shepherd; a sister, Carol Grove of West Lafayette; mother-in-law, Billie C. Borland of Freeport; and many extended family members and special friends.

Visitation will be held in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport on Monday, April 21 from 7 to 9 and Tuesday, April 22 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Masonic Services will be held Tuesday, April 22 at 6:00 p.m.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in Freeport United Methodist Church, S High Street, Freeport with Pastor Rodney West officiating. Burial will be immediately following in Greenmont Union Cemetery.
