Delbert Wayne Overholt

D. Wayne Overholt, age 81, went home to be with the Lord at 6:50 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 in the Truman Community Hospice House, New Philadelphia, Ohio after a period of declining health.

Wayne was born October 16, 1935 in Dennison, Ohio, a son of the late Delbert R. Overholt and Ada M. Watson Overholt.

Wayne graduated from high school in 1954. He then worked as a mechanic for Superior Clay of Dennison, then as a salesman for the Coke Cola Company of Dennison, and retired after many years from Pepsi Cola of New Philadelphia where he was a salesman and repairman.

He was a member of the Westchester United Methodist Church and the Westchester Senior Center. He enjoyed camping, woodworking, and farming.

He was a loving and devoted husband to Janice Marie Owens Overholt for sixty-three years. They were married December 6, 1953.

Wayne was the father of Debbie G. Heddleston of Freeport and Jay G. (Jackie) Overholt of Tippecanoe; father-in-law of Therese Overholt of Moundsville, West Virginia; a brother to three sisters: Mary Lou Overholt of Dennison, Helen (Dean) Bower of Cadiz, and Linda Ackerman of Davenport, Florida; granddad to Brian (Maria) Heddleston, Chad Heddleston, Kerri (Seth) Cope, Kristen (Darby) Boltz, Ashley (Scott) Beach, Josh Overholt, Devin Overholt, and Nicole (Logan Field) Overholt; great-granddad to twelve great-grandchildren: Hannah, Ben, Weston, Logan, Jaiden, J.J., Nathan, Savannah, Allyson, Cole, Claire, and Cash and uncle to several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Douglas W. Overholt in 2011.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 17, in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S. High Street, Freeport.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, in Westchester United Methodist Church with Pastor Paul Turner officiating assisted by Pastor Sandra Cappel. Burial will follow in Greenmont Union Cemetery, Freeport.
