Ila Mae (Luyster) Crawford

Ila Mae Crawford, age 85 of 3844 – 11 ^th Street SW, Apt. 408, Canton, Ohio died unexpectedly at home Friday, September 12, 2014.

Born October 9, 1928 in Belmont County, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Wilbert Clayton Luyster and Mary Louiza Kildow Luyster.

Ila was a 1947 graduate of Holloway High School, Holloway, Ohio.  On September 10, 1949 she married James S. Crawford. He died May 11, 1977. They lived on Belmont Ridge until 1961. Ila spent her lifetime being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed working word puzzles, crocheting, playing Bingo, and loved spending time with her family.

Surviving are a daughter, Clarice (Charles) Antwi-Obimpeh of Canton; three sons, Wilbert "Bill" Crawford of Canton, James (Anita) Crawford of Transfer, Pennsylvania, and Charles (Carol) Crawford of North Canton; five grandchildren, Alana (Yared) Gurmu, Andrew Crawford, Jacob Crawford, Christiana Antwi-Obimpeh, and George Antwi-Obimpeh; and one great-grandson, Jeremiah Crawford.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters, Loren Luyster, Glenn Luyster, Clyde Luyster, Dean Luyster, Carl Luyster, Nova Hidey, Wilma Tyson, Ethel Horstman, and Hilda Brown.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S. High Street, Freeport with Pastor Jerry Huntsman officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing Township, Belmont County, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home on Tuesday, September 16.
