John Sherman Clark, age 80 of Moravian Trail, Tippecanoe, Harrison County, Ohio died at 2:00 p.m. surrounded by family Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in his home. He was a three year pancreatic cancer survivor.
He was born in Nottingham Township, Harrison County, Ohio on October 25, 1933. He was a son of the late Albert Leland Clark and Mabel Faye Smith Clark.
John was a 1951 graduate of Freeport High School.
After graduation, he went to work for Dennison Sewer Pipe, then became employed by East Ohio Gas in Uniontown where he worked as a technician for thirty-three years. John was a farmer his entire life and raised beef cattle and 4-H calves on the family farm where he was raised.
He was a Franklin Township Clerk in Harrison County and a member of the Deersville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening and watching things grow. He loved sports, hunting, fishing, and playing cards with his rules.
Surviving is his wife of twelve years, Penelope Lou Jones Clark. They were married July 27, 2001.
Also surviving are a son, Jon L. (fiancé Debbie) Clark of Freeport; two daughters, Amy (Brian) Johnson of Dover and Susie (Jody) Gardner of Tippecanoe; seven grandchildren: Joni (Greg) Tarbert, Lori (Jeremy) Huff, Melissa (James) Mitchell, Stacey Liggett, Kristy Liggett, Keith Johnson, and Michelle Gardner (fiancé Adam); five great-grandchildren: Wyatt Hines, Emily Hines, Brody Huff, Beau Mitchell, and Bella Mitchell; mother-in-law, Mary Louise Jones of New Philadelphia; brothers-in-law Terry (Margie) Jones of Dover, Jerry (Louise) Milliken of Flushing, and Trevor Muse of Reynoldsburg; numerous nieces and nephews and good friends and his special dog, Bo, and his cats John McFadden and Jennie Annie Dotts.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Louise Milliken Clark. They were married June 26, 1952. She died in August of 1998. Also preceding him in death were his father-in-law, Paul Jones; and sisters-in-law Margaret Muse and Flora Singer; and many close friends.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 18 th in the Deersville United Methodist Church. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 19 th in the church with Keith Cope officiating. Burial will follow in Patterson Union Cemetery, Deersville.
