Margaret May "Peg" Neely Anderson, age 91, of 1322 E. Chandler Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah died Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the home of her son, Scott in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born in Pennsylvania on August 8, 1923, she was a daughter of the late William G. Neely and Kathryn Boyd Neely.
She was a graduate of Barnesville High School. She furthered her education at Wooster College, Wooster, Ohio and graduated in 1944 with a Bachelor's Degree in French. She then enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Japanese Code Clerk in Washington DC until the end of the war in 1945.
Peg was a fifth grade school teacher for a couple years. She got married in 1948 and she then devoted the rest of her life to being a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was also her husband's administrative assistant for twenty years, in his consulting business.
She was affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church in Salt Lake City, Utah and Presbyterian Church in Freeport, Ohio. She and her husband owned a farm in the Freeport area and they lived in Freeport for ten years.
Her husband of sixty-one years, Thomas Franklin Anderson died January 3, 2010. They were married September 3, 1948. Surviving are three sons: Thomas (Kikue) Anderson, Jr. of Houston, Texas, Scott (Cindy Burrows) Anderson of Salt Lake City, Utah, and William (Cathy) Anderson of Basel, Switzerland; seven grandchildren: April Anderson, Zachary Anderson, Todd Anderson, Laurel Anderson, Cristen Anderson, Nolan Anderson, and Luke Anderson; a brother, William G. Neely, Jr. of Sun City West, Arizona and a sister, Kathryn Schreiner of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edward Neely.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2015 in Koch Funeral Home, 216 South High Street, Freeport, Ohio with Pastor Jim McConnell officiating. Burial and Military Services will follow in Greenmont Union Cemetery, Freeport. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. (one hour prior to the service) in the funeral home.
