Martha Lee Chaney

Martha L. Murphy Chaney, age 92, of 30100 Chaney Road, Tippecanoe died at 11:14 a.m. Sunday, June 28, 2026 in Trinity Twin City Emergency Room in Dennison, Ohio.

She was born January 20, 1934 in Dennison, Ohio. She was a daughter of the late Thomas J. Murphy and Helen Pyle Murphy.

Her husband, James L. Chaney, died Sunday, February 4, 2018.

Martha retired from Union Hospital in Dover as a nursing assistant. She was a member of the Uhrichsville Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed a lifetime of being a farmer’s wife, raising children, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed growing flowers and gardening.

Surviving are five children: Kristin (John) Henning of New Philadelphia, Kathy Chaney of the home, Kimberly (Art) Hopwood of Bolivar, Kelli Reichman of Dover, and James (Lona) Chaney of Tippecanoe; eleven grandchildren: seventeen great-grandchildren; and a brother, Larry (Cindy) Murphy of Gilmore.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Harrison James, five brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thursday, July, 2, 2026 in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport.

Her funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Andrew Kohr officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenmont Union Cemetery, Freeport.
