Martha Anne (Fair) Cole

Martha Anne Cole, age 85, of Antrim died at 5:32 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.

Born December 12, 1929 in Londonderry Township, Guernsey County, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison Fair (died in 1982) and Lyda Ellen Tedrick Fair (died in 1972).

She was a 1948 graduate of Freeport High School and continued her education at the Cambridge Business College, specializing in secretarial skills.

Martha was employed by the R. B. Moore Insurance Company in Cambridge from 1949 to 1956, worked at the Cambridge State Hospital in the Records Room for six months, worked as a legal secretary for Tally Evans, Attorney at Law, in Cambridge for seven years. She then worked for the W. B. Green Insurance Company in Cambridge till she moved to Antrim when she married Glenn Ivan Cole on July 31, 1975.  She then became co-owner and operator of Glenn's Service business in Antrim and was the dispatcher for the Antrim Fire Department. She continued to operate the store by herself after Glenn died in 1984.

She was a 6th and 7th Degree member of the Deersville, Freeport, Mt. Hope, and Pomona Grange. She served as Junior Grange Matron for over twenty years. Martha also enjoyed sewing and making crafts.

Surviving are a step-daughter, Betty Stemple of Columbus; six step-sons: Roger Cole of Cambridge, Robert (Mary Ellen) Lewis Cole of Madison, Wisconsin, Brian Lee (Patty) Cole of Rockwall, Texas, Ronald Glen (Linda) Cole of Columbus, and James Cole of Madison, Wisconsin; nine step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; six nieces and nephews: Darlene (Darrell) Dakin of Honduras, Central America, Sylvia (William) Thomas of Uhrichsville, Sue (Mark) Harper of Adrian, Georgia, Bonnie (Jim) Baker of Uhrichsville and Shirley Fair of Freeport; fifteen grandnieces and grandnephews and thirteen great-grand nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Vernon Fair in 2009, a step-son, Harry Cole, and three nephews, James Harrison Fair, Robert (his wife Debra) Fair and Scotty Fair.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 2, in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport with Pastor Ron Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery, near Winterset in Guernsey County, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1 and one hour prior to the service (10:00 to 11:00 a.m.) Monday, November 2.

Memorial contributions may be made in Martha's memory to the Antrim Volunteer Fire Department.
