Mary Jean (Hennen) Adams

Mary Jean Adams, age 91, of Freeport passed away peacefully at her home and went to be with her Lord and the love of her life on Sunday, January 26, 2025.

She was born November 29, 1933, in Cadiz, Ohio; a daughter of the late Francis Paul Hennen and Sara Anna Nash Hennen.

Mary Jean was a 1951 graduate of Cadiz High School. She worked at the Scio Pottery for several years, then was the Tappan Roadside Rest Area Supervisor for Harrison Industries Adult Workshop and then worked as a custodian for WesBanco Bank in Freeport and Flushing.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and their families and reading Harlequin Romance novels, especially the Love Inspired Series. She cherished her photographs, and when she was missing her family, she loved looking at photo albums. Her most enjoyable job was babysitting her grandkids and videotaping some of the craziest plays, especially "Thunder Rolls" and "When Nicole Gets Married."

Mary Jean enjoyed watching Ohio State sports, the Cleveland Indians, and the Cleveland Cavaliers, especially with the love of her life Wayne. She and her husband were so thrilled when the Cavaliers won the NBA Championship in 2016. They also enjoyed going for drives in Harrison and surrounding counties especially visiting Holmes County around Sugarcreek.

They were married April 14, 1951, and celebrated love, farming, raising four kids, having some tough times and also great times, but always getting through it together. Wayne died on March 2, 2024.

Surviving are three daughters: Cheryl Besozzi of Cadiz, Beth (Wayne) Karl of Freeport, Jackie (Jay) Overholt of Tippecanoe; a son: Lenny (Laura) Adams of Piedmont; seven grandchildren: Tiffany, Brandi (Bill), Sara (Jeff), Jared (Ashley), Jenna (Bryan), Jessica, Nicole; eight great-grandchildren: Callan, Ada, Odin, Killian, Cole, Claire, Cashton, Benson; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Nancy and Ronnie Sproull of Cadiz and Ruth Ann and Lester Nabb of Cadiz; a brother-in-law, Ernie Mizer of New Philadelphia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Douglas Besozzi and a sister, Doris Mizer.
