Robert Lee Rankin, age 67, of 73745 Repik Lane, Freeport, Guernsey County, Ohio died at 3:31 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2026 after battling some health issues for over a year.
Born July 5, 1958 in Bridgeport, Ohio; he was a son of the late Stanley George Rankin and Freda Corrine “Till” Dean.
He graduated from Lakeland High School and then enlisted in the United States Army in 1977 and was honorably discharged in 1979.
Bob and Annette had a construction company, B & R Construction for several years, then Bob joined the Journeyman Carpenters Union in Canton where he worked for Beaver Construction for years, retired from there; then joined the Laborers Union and retired from there in 2000.
His wife of forty-five years, Christa Annette Pitner Rankin survives. They were married in July 12, 1980 in the Smyrna Methodist Church. Also surviving are two children: a son, Steven R. (Pam) Rankin of Florida and a daughter, Amanda N. Sharp of Smyrna; three grandchildren: Kowan Sharp, Ayden Sharp, and Emilee Rankin; a brother, Michael (Mary) Rankin of Smyrna; three sisters: Patricia Liligegren of Flushing, Victoria Puskarich of Freeport, Lynne Sagel of Texas; two sisters-in-law: Elizabeth (Denny) Tidrick of Florida and Shona (Brett) Batten of Ripley, West Virginia.
Preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jason Sharp; and three brothers: Moe, George, and Bryan and a sister, Sharon Sturtz.
Calling hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport on Monday, May 4, 2025. Following Bob’s wishes after calling hours cremation will take place.
