Roy Edward "Bud" Vansickle, Jr.

Roy "Bud" Edward Vansickle, Jr., age 71, of Tippecanoe passed away peacefully Monday, August 18, 2025, in his home.

He was born August 3, 1954, near Zanesville, Ohio; a son of the late Roy Edward Vansickle Sr. and Louise Sarah Mauer Vansickle.

Roy was a 1972 graduate of Lakeland High School. He was a water truck driver for the oil and gas fields for several years until he retired in April 2015.

His love and passion his entire life was his farm which he farmed right up until he passed. He enjoyed making hay in the summer months and cutting firewood during the fall – just any excuse to be on his tractor. His favorite thing to do when he wasn't on a tractor or checking on his cattle was sitting outside in his favorite chair watching the deer and squirrels. But if you would ask him what his favorite animal was, hands down he would say "A Black Bear." He enjoyed watching the game show channel, westerns, wrestling, and girl's college basketball.

He was one of the hardest working people you would ever meet. When it came to helping one of his children or a neighbor the word "no" was never an option. He would always stop what he was doing to lend a helping hand. He was the most amazing, loving, caring father to his three children whom he loved unconditionally, but the light of his life was his grandson, Noah. Noah and his Papa spent many countless hours together. You could easily say they were "Best Buddies" and he was definitely proud to carry the title "Papa" with a smile.

He is survived by two daughters: Amy (Tom) Strickler of Tippecanoe and Kelly Vansickle of Tippecanoe; a son, Michael (Jen) Vansickle of Tippecanoe; a grandson, Noah Strickler; and four step-grandchildren: Madison, Olivia, Jaelyn, and Bella; three sisters: Jane (Jay) Adams of Tippecanoe, Mary Brock of Garden Grove, California; Kathy (Bill) Myer of Uhrichsville; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Vansickle, and a brother, Dan Vansickle.

He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him, especially his grand dogs, Willow and Scout, whom he hung out with every day around lunch time.

In keeping with Roy's wishes there will be no services. He will be buried in Greenmont Union Cemetery, Freeport at the convenience of the family.

Koch Funeral Home of Freeport handled his arrangements. Online condolences may be made for the family at www.kochfuneralhome.net
