Sara Pauline (Toole) Jones

Sara Pauline Jones, age 75, of 35305 Jones Road, Freeport died at 10:10 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2023 with family by her side in the Valley Hospice Unit of Trinity Hospital, Steubenville, Ohio following a 14-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born April 30, 1948 in Delaware, Ohio, a daughter of the late James Donald Toole and Erma Lucille Harris Toole. She was a 1966 graduate of Lakeland High School.

Pauline along with her husband, John, and her family successfully started two businesses which are still going strong: Hillbilly Hideaway Campground in 1985 and D&J Sales and Service in 1989. She and John started Walnut Hill Farms in 1970 and took pride in her donkeys and registered Angus bulls. They also raised sheep, goats, and cows. She was an avid supporter of her family's tractor pulling events.

Polly was a member of the Minksville Church of Christ and was a basic certified EMT for Deersville Community Fire Department and EMS for thirty-eight years, winning a Star of Life award in 2008. She was a member of the Brushy Fork Homemakers and Harrison County Farm Bureau where she served in numerous roles.

Her husband of 53 years and 8 days, John Calvin Jones, survives. They were married December 12, 1970. Also surviving are two sons and a daughter: Jon (Tina) Jones, Don (Amy) Jones, and Jolene (Darin) Gehrig, all of Freeport; two grandsons: Zack (Cheyenne) Jones of Freeport and Cael Jones of Freeport; three granddaughters: Joelle (Zack) Elias of Jewett, Jalyn Jones of Freeport, and Emi Jones of Freeport; a brother, Stanley (Pam) Toole of Flushing; a sister, Wanda (Les Sears) Toole of Scio; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends will be received from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2023 in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport, Ohio 43973.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service on Saturday, December 23, 2023 in Minksville Church of Christ, 36305 Brushy Fork Road, Cadiz, Ohio 43907 with Bob Main as the minister. Burial will follow in Minksville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Minksville Church of Christ.
