Sara Elizabeth (Trushell) Case

Sara Elizabeth Trushell Case, age 84 of New Philadelphia formerly of Jewett went home to be with the Lord at 8:05 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2016 in Park Village Health Care Center, Dover, Ohio.

Born July 20, 1931 in Scio, Harrison County, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Martin Trushell and Anna Rosalie Grace Trushell.

Sara was a 1949 graduate of Scio High School.

She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia, a former member of the Jewett Presbyterian Church where she was very active, a Girl Scout Leader for several years, served on the Harrison County Board of Election, a former member of Mt. Hope Grange, a member of the Blossom Country Dancers in Carrollton, and a lifetime member of the Dover Post #3463 Veterans of Foreign Wars. She enjoyed ball room dancing, knitting, making rugs, traveling, camping, fishing, and doing puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family that she loved dearly.

Sara is survived by her husband of 66 years, George Grafton Case. They were married June 11, 1949. They lived and raised their family in Jewett, retired in 1989, and moved to Peoria, Arizona. In 2000 they returned to Ohio to be closer to family, and became residents of New Philadelphia, Ohio until she became a resident of Park Village Care Center in Dover.

Also surviving are a daughter: Rebecca Sue (Sam) Glasure of New Philadelphia; a son: George Randall (Sue) Case of Sherrodsville; five sisters: Marie Case of New Philadelphia, Thelma DeWire of Navarre, Elsie Chambers of Strasburg, Sylvia (Harry) Albright of Conotton, and Freeda (Kenneth) Shultz of Canton; two brothers: Dan (Hazel) Trushell of Bowerston and Paul (Martha) Trushell of Scio; five grandchildren: Paul (Diane) Skipper, Eric Skipper, Jamie (fianceé Traci Ross) Skipper, Greg (Carolyn) Case and Tim Case; seven great-grandchildren: Jordynn (fiancé Colby Mackinem) Skipper, Macen Skipper, Tre Lumley, Tia Divine, Gerald Case, Sabrina Case, and Grayson Skipper; three step-great-grandchildren: Jasmine (fiancé Jeff Nichols) Shifflet, George Armiger, and Michael Armiger; a great-great-granddaughter, Kennedy Mackinem; and a step-great-great-grandson, Grayson Nichols.

An infant grandson, Benjamin Joseph Case; a granddaughter-in-law, Elizabeth Faye Skipper; and two sisters: Mildred Kraus and Mary Ann Riggs preceded her in death.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016 in Otterbein United Methodist Church, New Philadelphia with Pastor Jon Long officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Jewett. Visitation will be held in the church from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, one hour prior to the service.
