Zachary Aaron Gibbons, age 47, of St. Clairsville, Ohio passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at home with his wife and children by his side.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky on March 7, 1978. He was a son of the late Irwin (Gibby) Dale Gibbons and Alice "Joann" Wornstaff Gibbons.
He grew up in Lakeland, Florida, then moved to the Freeport, Ohio area as a teenager. Zach graduated from Lakeland High School, Class of 1997.
He was a member of the Deersville Volunteer Fire Department, worked on the railroad for a few years, worked for Oxford Mining, then J. W. Power, Cadiz, as a mechanic on gas and oil field compressors, and then worked at LaRoche Tree Service in Bellaire as a heavy equipment operator clearing the power lines for AEP.
Zach enjoyed woodworking, target shooting, and being in the ocean. He was the life of the party and loved smoking BBQ for all his friends. Zach's passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Holly Gillette Gibbons; his children and pride and joy, Lily and Lane; stepchildren: Dustin, Ryen, and Kaitlyn; a brother, Richard Gibbons; maternal uncle and aunts: Stephen and Gail Wornstaff and Don and Barb Wornstaff; his mothers-in-law and fathers-in-law, Glenna and Bret Reid and Bob and Lori Gillette; five sisters-in-law: April (Jamie), Kelly (Dale) Heidi (David), Bobby, Ronni, and Debbie; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and two special friends he considered brothers: Aaron Koch and Corie Milliken.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Caroll and cousins, Matt Wornstaff and Bobby Wornstaff.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2025 in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport.
Following Zach's wishes, he will be cremated and a private service will be held later.
