Barbara Joan (Bardall) Matthews

Barbara Joan Matthews, age 67, of 112 S High Street, Freeport died at 1:35 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2022 in South Eastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge following a three week battle with COVID-19.

She was born September 10, 1954 in Cambridge, Ohio to John Cambridge Bardall, Jr. of Freeport and the late Katherine Joan McCoy Bardall who died April 12, 1993.

Barb was a 1972 graduate of Lakeland High School. She graduated from Cambridge Beauty College in 1973 and went to work as an instructor for them. In 1980 she started her own beauty shop, Doll House Hairstyling in Freeport, which she still owned and operated.

Barb enjoyed collecting Longaberger baskets and Precious Moments figurines. She liked visiting yard sales with her Amish friends, visiting with her customers, enjoyed cooking and camping at Twin Hills Campgrounds. Most of all she loved her family and cherished every moment she got to spend with her granddaughter.

Surviving is her husband, Jeffrey A. Matthews. They were married September 6, 1997.

In addition to her father and husband, she is survived by her son, Zachary Allen Matthews and his finance, Hannah Peeper; granddaughter, Everleigh Faye Matthews; three brothers: Bruce (Belinda) Bardall of Columbus, Bill (Lisa) Bardall of Shreve, and Ben (Stacey) Bardall of Freeport; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Private services will be held with Rick Moore officiating in Greenmont Union Cemetery, Freeport.
