David Larry Garrett, age 77, of Holloway died peacefully at home at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2019.
Born January 19, 1942 in Wheeling, West Virginia, He was a son of the late Opha L. Garrett and Sarah Frances Ullom Garrett.
Larry was a 1960 graduate of Union Local High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country during the Vietnam Era. He was inducted into the Air Force in Wheeling, West Virginia on December 5, 1960 and received an honorable discharge on December 6, 1964 in San Francisco, California.
Retiring in 2002 after nineteen years, Larry was a truck driver for E & L Transport in Lorain, Ohio. He was a Protestant by faith.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Gray Garrett, who died December 30, 2001 (They were married May 4, 1971); his second wife, Helen Garrett, who died September 10, 2016 (They were married December 22, 2007); and a brother, Eugene Garrett.
Surviving are five sons: Matt Garrett (Theresa) of Flushing, Ohio, Tim (Judy) O'Conner of Omaha, Nebraska, John (Carrie) O'Conner of Dalton, Georgia, David O'Conner of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Donald (Jennifer) Simpson of Flushing, Ohio; a daughter, Carolyn Stokes of Flushing, Ohio; a brother, Melvin Garrett of Massillon, Ohio; a sister, Delores (Manual) Kirk of St. Clairsville, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. Sunday, October 27 in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2019 in the funeral home with Pastor Robert Merritt officiating. Military honors will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing Township, Ohio conducted by the Flushing American Legion. Burial will follow.
