Ernest L Tidrick

Ernest L. Tidrick, age 82, of Massillon formerly of Westchester and Rock Hill died at 6:25 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021 in Mercy Medical Center, Canton, Ohio.

He was born October 9, 1938 in Belmont County, a son of the late Clarence “Turkey” Tidrick and Rose VanFossen Tidrick.

He was employed by Cravat Coal Company and Frank and Nick Puskarich on their farm cutting wood and clearing land. He also worked for Wilgus Lumber Company in Cadiz.  Then he moved to Navarre and he went to work for Cardel Tool and Dye of North Royalton, he retired when they closed their business in 2005.

Ernie loved to fish, hunt, and garden. He then cold packed his vegetables and fruits that he grew in his gardens. He made awesome biscuits and homemade noodles. He liked to make wood lawn ornaments like wishing wells, wheelbarrows, lighthouses, churches, lamps, and Uncle Sam. He loved to joke and was very ornery and never met a stranger. He was a hard worker and took great care of his family – one of a kind family man.

Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Barbara Lucille Jeffers Tidrick. They were married May 8, 1965. Also surviving are a daughter, Marita Jane (Jeff) Greenwood of Massillon, a son Kevin (Kathy) Tidrick, four grandchildren: Kevin (Melody) Tidrick, Jr., Kyle Tidrick, Ashley “Pickle” (Shaun) Griffith, and Mikey Greenwood; two great-grandchildren: Alexander Griffith and Evelyn Griffith; and five siblings: Bob, Gary, Sharon, Joanne, and John.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Ernest Jr, a brother, Jackie, Rick, David.

Private visitation and services for the family will be held in Koch Funeral Home in Freeport. Burial will be in Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing Township, Belmont County, Ohio.
