Gary Noel Zechman, age 80, of Piedmont was pronounced dead at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 in his home. He was born December 24, 1942 in Cleveland but lived the majority of his life in Piedmont.
He was a railroad engineer starting with ConRail in Akron and then worked for the Wheeling Lake Erie Railroad until retiring.
Gary enjoyed life. He spent a lot of time taking care of his property, working crossword puzzles, golfing, writing in his daily journal; and he taught himself how to play the Ukulele. He cherished time visiting with family and working with his brother on various projects.
Preceding him in death were his parents: Clarence W. Zechman and Marilyn Postance Zechman; a brother, William Zechman; a son, Bryan Zechman; and two step-sons: Scott Barton and Thomas Barton.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Mae Angelis Zechman; one brother, Thomas Zechman, one son, James Zechman and his children: Adam, Noah, Gabe, and Kathryn; three granddaughters: Brittany and her husband Tim Manabusin and their children: Marley, Aliniah, and Izzy; Courtney and her husband Jeff Hellon and their children: Zeppelin and Oliver; Jerrica and her husband Navin Nguyen and their children: Nessan and Noella; and one grandson: Zachary and his wife Heather and their children: Kara, Paxton, Thomas, Alex, and Ella.
Cremation has taken place. Private services will be held at a later date.
