John Howells III Obituary

John Howells III, age 66, of Freeport died at home on Sunday, July 24, 2022 after a long illness.

He was born August 25, 1955 in Trenton, New Jersey; a son of the late John Howells Jr. and Charlotte Barnard Howells.

He served in the United States Navy, joining when he was seventeen years old.

He retired in 2012 from Bill Hawk Inc. of Dover where he was in Laborer’s Union. He welded and operated heavy equipment there for fifteen years. 

John liked to fish, hunt, and being on the computer.

Surviving are his wife of 16 years, Suzanne Denise Nichols Howells; three daughters: Christina (Fred) Howells-Pita of Santa Maria, California. April Howells of New Jersey, and Charlene Howells of New Jersey; three step-children: Kandice (Jason) Butzer of Norton, Devan (Joseph) Kimball of Freeport, and Skyler Nichols of Fort Polk, Louisiana; eight grandchildren: Brandan (Valory) Pita of Oklahoma,  Michael (Cynthia) Pita of Alaska, Ryan Pita of Santa Maria, California, Cailey Pita of Santa Maria, California, Alyssa Howells of New Jersey, Nathan McBurney of Freeport, Hailey Kimball of Freeport, Gwendolyn Nichols of Norton, a great-grandson: Matthew Pita of Alaksa, a great-grandson on the way; a like-a-daughter, Tonya (Luke Stewart) Wagner and her children, Stephen Wagner and Carolynn Stull of Moorefield; and his three dogs: Blue, Willow, and Blossom; two brothers: Sam (Bonnie) Howells of New Jersey and Frank Howells and his wife of New Jersey; a sister Sandy Mennel and her significant other of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Following his wishes, he was cremated and did not want any services. His ashes will be scattered in the Pacific Ocean.
