Robert Lee Henry, Sr., age 67 of 65131 Old Route 8, Barnesville, Ohio 43713 died peacefully at home at 1:19 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2019.
Bob was born December 20, 1951 in Canton, Ohio to the late Merle William Henry and Martha Naomi Hildreth Henry.
He was a 1970 graduate of Buchtel High School in Akron and then attended Ohio Diesel Tech School in Cleveland.
He was employed by Ford Motor Company in Lorain for five years working on the assembly line then he worked for a year for Ohio CAT in Cadiz. For the next ten years he hauled coal for Kovacs Trucking Company of Holloway then switched to over the road hauling for Sears, Stone Container, and Gypsun Express where he retired in January 2014.
Bob is a member of the Freeport United Methodist Church, an honorary member of the Freeport Volunteer Fire Department and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Surviving is his wife of thirty-nine years, Elizabeth Jean Henry. They were married July 28, 1979. Also surviving are two sons Robert (Rose) Henry of Barnesville and William (Savannah) Henry of Lore City; five grandchildren: Braden, Jensen, Anna, Bella, and Bentley; two brothers and three sisters: Merle (Mary) Henry, Jr. of LaGrange, Don (Jackie) Henry of Louisville, Penny (Joe) Yacapraro of Coshocton, Linda Mason of Coshocton, and Joyce Billie of Tippecanoe; a step-sister, Karen Ingram of Freeport; three step-brothers: Tim Ingram, Tom Ingram, and John Ingram, all of Akron.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Henry.
A Firemen’s Service will be held 12:00 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2019 in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport. Visitation will follow from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2019 in the Freeport United Methodist Church with Pastor Sandra Cappel and Pastor David Koch officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmont Union Cemetery, Freeport
